May 3 Mt Baden Powell

Ooops arranged a ride for us from The Evergreen Cafe with trail angel Mary. We packed and made it there just as they were opening. Mary joined us at 730 and we were on our way by 8. When we got to the trail head we saw Francis. He was just about to start . He has been off for a few days nursing a toe infection. We were all headed to Mt Baden Powell, our highest point to date, 9,399 feet. Just as we started up the trail Ooops noticed my water bottles were missing. They must have fallen out of my pack in Mary's car! Unfortunately there is no phone service do I could not call her. Ooops had an empty soda bottle and we were hoping to get water at the visitor center. We arrived at the visitor center at 9 but it was closed. France's said he saw a water cash with pints of cold water under a bush off the trail. Thanks to the person who put it there I was back in business. The weather was perfect. The climb ws steep and there was some soft slippery snow to post-hole through at the top. We both were wishing we had our spikes. We kept slipping and Ooops had a scary fall and every time he moved he slipped further until I gave him one end of my pole to grawell. We took several pictures at the top and enjoyed the view.

We camped at Little Jimmy Creek with Francis. It was a great site with a spring with fresh cold water just before it. Another great day on the trail!
