We had out best Zero day yet here in Mt Shasta.
We stayed at hiker friendly Cold Creek Inn close to all the places we needed to go.
This included the laundromat , outfitter and grocery store, post office, restaurant, local thrift shop and we even made it to a movie - "Ted"- (save your money).
We spent a lot of time on gear repair patching holes and mending clothes, catching up on correspondence and planning the next leg of our hike. We met up with several other hikers in the outfitter store, all busy doing the same things.
Today we got a ride to the trailhead by Michele. She works at the motel but lives in Dunsmuir and offered to drive us when she got off work at 3, so by 330 we were back on the trail.
Thanks Michelle!
We hiked mostly up hill for 6 miles. Andrew, another PCT thru-hiker was getting back on the trail too and it turns out he knows a lot of the same hikers that we know. Apparently Niko and Liane got off the trail in Tuolomne due to an injury, but rumor has it they may be getting back on. Neil is a few weeks ahead, ( I last saw him at the Anderson's) Ooops is about a week behind.
We found a great campsite by the creek, made tortillas with cheese over the fire then had pudding for dessert. Another hiker named Stride passed by and we chatted with her for a while. It was great to still have a signal and to be able to send this entry. There is a 30% chance of thunderstorms tonight. Tomorrow we have a long uphill day and hope to get 20 plus miles closer to Etna.

Glad to hear you are enjoying my stomping grounds. I hope all the wildflowers are in full blooms when you hit the Marble Mountain Wilderness, but you may be a bit early. I was there last September and they were taller than me and prolific, filling entire meadows and crowding the trail.
