Water sources were a bit far apart but we never had to carry more than 3 liters. We had great views of Mt Shasta all along the way and we leap-frogged with several other hikers as we all made tracks to our next town.

We stopped for lunch at a Tough Creek - a great spot which resembled a tropical paradise with a waterfall and lush green plants.

Every day we meet new hikers as the PCT herd closes in. Several recognized us from reading this blog such as Jane and Coleen and Not a Chance.
On our last night it started to thunder around midnight but the stars were out and we thought the rain would miss us. At 2am it started to rain. I was in my tent well protected but Gone Fishing was in his bug bivey fast asleep. He quickly set up his tent and then of course the rain promptly stopped.

The next morning we got an early start and reached another milestone-

Wild Flowers collected in route to milestone 1500

We also found a milestone made by a previous hiker - roman Numeral 1500
We reached the trail head at highway 5 at 930am. Normally hikers hike into Castella (2.5 miles) or Dunsmuir (4.5 miles) then try to get a hitch but we decided to stand at the base of the on-ramp and pray for a car to stop. Within 10 minutes we were picked up and driven to Dunsmuir where we got a second hitch into Mt Shasta by hiker and trail angel Bruce.

Thanks Bruce!
